Welcome to “Slay That Menopause” I’m Jo Pagett, a Menopause Wellness Practitioner. I’m an Affiliate Member of the British Menopause Society, and a member of the International Menopause Society.  I’m here to support women transitioning through the Menopause phase of their live, ensuring you feel empowered, stay healthy and informed.

I live just outside Market Harborough with my Husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats, in what used to be a Pub that we renovated into our home. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears! Not to mention swear words and Wine! But it all worked out in the end.

I went through a Surgical Menopause when I was 36 and had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (the womb, cervix, fallopian tubes (salpingectomy) and ovaries (oophorectomy) are removed) which put me straight into a surgical Menopause and onto Oestrogen only HRT, which I have been taking continuously since (17 years now). Without it I would not be able to function, as my body doesn’t produce Oestrogen, a vital Sex Hormone and would probably be in the early stages of Osteoporosis. Since this surgery I have been a passionate supporter and advocate of Women who are either undergoing a Hysterectomy, Surgical Menopause or struggling with their Menopause.

Until recently in my Corporate professional career I was Programme Director for a large Global IT Hardware / Consultancy Corporation. I was a member of several Employee Corporate Responsibiity Groups and was a very active key member of the Women’s Health Group, where I was proud to hold role of a Mental Health Coach and a Menopause Champion supporting and coaching my colleagues, both female and male.

Since leaving this organisation after being made redundant, it gave me time to really think about what I wanted to do next, as I felt that my drive in the world of IT Consultancy was starting to loose it’s appeal. So after 30 years I need to do something that makes me feel worthwhile and I want to give back and support others. During in this time I have studied, achieved and have been awarded my Diploma as a Menopause Wellness Practitioner. I have also joined the British Menopause Society as an Affiliate Member, the BMS are the specialist authority for menopause & post reproductive health, so I’m thrilled to be part of this and have access to all their studies and resources, and Member of the International Menopause Society and there’s still more learning to do.

For more details about what I can offer you and how I can support you please take a look at the SERVICES section as this will provide you with the upto date details on my Coaching programmes, Support You & Your Partner, Nutrition, how to stay Fit, and Menopause at Work which goes above and beyond to get you in the best shape during this phase of your life.

I want to ensure you have a good, and well balanced Menopause, you maybe feeling lost or noticed a few changes and not sure why or what to do about them, so your looking for answers and not getting very far.  Or having difficulties talking to your partner, this is quite common during Menopause.

I regularly hear the phrase I want to talk to my Doctor, but I don’t know where to start or what to say, will they take me seriously.  This can feel overwhelming, especially when your Doctor appointment typically only lasts about 10 minutes, it’s difficult to have an in-depth conversation about what’s going on and how you’re feeling in that time. I can give you the time, so we can have the pre-conversation so you know exactly what you need to discuss with your Doctor to get the most out of your appointment. If you’re concerned about HRT or have any general questions I can help to put your mind at rest or answer your questions, and remember I have access to all the resources of the BMS at my fingertips, the same as your Doctor has.

Don’t panic the changes you are about to go through are normal, I’m afraid this is all part of the ageing process and part of being a woman (those who are born with a uterus), that I’m afraid I can’t change.

So come on take my hand, we can put a plan in place and get through this, I’m right beside you.

You never stop learning.
